Jacob, originally from the Escondido, California (a suburb of Los Angeles), and Tia, a lifelong Topekan, met in Salt Lake City before relocating to Topeka over twenty years ago to be closer to Tia’s family. Together, they have three children and are both proud alumni of Washburn University.

Jacob has built a career in technology and leadership, holding roles at Topeka-based companies like Mize Houser, Stormont Vail Healthcare, and SE2 (now Zinnia). He currently works for the NAIC, a non-profit based in Kansas City that focuses on collaboration and consumer advocacy within the insurance industry. Tia spent several years as a paraprofessional in the USD 345 school system and now balances her time between working at Wheatland and continuing as a substitute teacher.

In 2005, Jacob and Tia cofounded Capital Management, a residential real estate firm in Topeka, alongside Zach and Annika Wilson. In January 2024, the Sampson and Wilson families purchased Wheatland from Jared and Kristin Muir.

Outside of work, Jacob enjoys staying active at the gym, while Tia loves spending her free time crocheting.

Lifelong Topekans, Zach and Annika have been married for over twenty years and are proud parents of five children (four biological, one adopted). Both are graduates of Washburn University, holding undergraduate degrees as well as MBAs.

Zach has extensive experience in technology and leadership roles, having served as a corporate officer at FHLBank Topeka, and vice president at Security Benefit and SE2 (now Zinnia). He currently works at the NAIC, a Kansas City-based non-profit focused on collaboration and consumer advocacy in the insurance industry.

Annika has dedicated her career to early childhood education, working as a Director at various child care centers. Most recently, Annika worked as a parent educator with Parents as Teachers before leaving the organization to focus on Wheatland full-time. 

In 2005, Zach and Annika started (and continue to operate) Capital Management LLC, a residential real estate firm with 70+ units in the Topeka area with Jacob and Tia Sampson. In January 2024, the Wilson and Sampson families purchased Wheatland from Jared and Kristin Muir.

When Zach and Annika are not managing their busy household, Zach and Annika enjoy playing hobby board games, repairing pinball machines, and spending time together with their families.

Brian and Maia Hamilton were both born and raised in Topeka, and both are proud graduates of Washburn University. Brian brings years of experience in technology leadership, having held leadership roles at Cerner, Evergy, and Netsmart, where he led teams and initiatives focused on innovation, efficiency, and customer support. Maia spent nearly two decades as a dedicated elementary school teacher, shaping young minds and fostering a love of learning before transitioning to Wheatland part-time. You'll find Maia and her sidekick Milo (the dog) in our office on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Tamara, along with her husband Ben and their four children, is a long-time resident of Topeka. Tamara and Ben have four children, and they previously lived in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Atchison, Kansas, during her husband's seminary studies.

Tamara holds broad experience from roles at Community Bank, Aviva, many years with Capital Management, and now Wheatland. 

Tamara divides her time between Wheatland, Capital Management, her family, and volunteering with the Cornerstone Family Schools organization. 

Heather joined Wheatland in January 2025. She and her husband, Dirk, have lived in Topeka since 2013. They previously lived in Colorado, Utah, Washington and even in Italy when her husband was serving in the United States Air Force. They raised four children who are now raising families of their own. 

Heather has long held Secretarial and Receptionist positions over the years, most recently at Washburn Rural Middle School. She enjoys traveling with her husband, tending to her flower gardens and chickens, as well as spoiling her grandchildren any chance she gets! 

Valerie joined Wheatland in Q4 2025 and brings extensive property management expertise and strong ties to the Topeka community. A life-long Topekan, Valerie has built her career working with prominent property management firms such as Yarco and Dalmark. With her knowledge Valerie plays a key role in supporting our associations, homeowners, and vendors by answering calls, coordinating fixes for work orders, and attending Board meetings.
